Multi-Alarm Warehouse Fire (5-5-07)

A full structure assignment was dispatched to Beacon Street for a reported warehouse fire. 7-11 arrived on location within 1 minute and confirmed a working fire. Engine 7 arrived on location within 3 minutes and began access to the structure and establishing a water supply.  Engine 7-1 and Rescue 7 were quickly behind. As the fire spread faster than the boroughs hydrant system could fight it, the run card was completely filled out, with special calls for Monarch's Quint 6, Grills Tower 70, Reiffton Tower 2, Mount Penn Ladder 1, Amity Engine 49, Stonersville Engine 3, and many others. Crews from the truck companies played a significant role in the extinguishment of this rapid spreading fire. The fire building was originally built as a shoe factory, later modified to a flag factory. At that time, holes were cut in the floor to pass material through. The building sat abandoned until recently when a furniture manufacturing business and a lawn mower shop occupied it. The fire has been ruled accidental.
